Carpenters add lights on existing circuit...
Carpenters attempted to do the electric in a kitchen. They added about 8 recessed fixtures and tried to splice to the existing wires. Luckily for this home owner, the splice was in a metal trough in a utility room. After a few days about 1/3 of the house lost power, electricians were finally called in to troubleshoot. When they traced the smell of burnt wires to the trough, they found this which burnt through about five circuits.
